bullet train to nowhere

rain 31 °C

Currently we are in an internet cafe in Ao Nang, Thailand taking some time to cool off and also wait out the rain.

The trip here was interesting to say the least. We left Singapore at 7am on Wednesday the first leg of the train ride was to KL (Kuala Lumpur). We got to KL in about 7 hours and quickly hopped on the LRT to the Petronas Towers. We took a few tourists pictures of us in front and went inside to go on the skywalk betweeen the towers but it has just closed, damn. We grabed a bite to eat and then got back on an EXTREMLY full LRT back to the train station.

This time we were on an overnight train to Hat Yai, Thailand. It was an expereince!! Since we made the plan to do this rather late all that was available was upper bunks. So we each climbed up into our bunks and had a good laugh at being stuck in these for the next 14hrs!!! It was fun and comfy enough but Mom was right about getting a lower bunk it would have been way better.

We decided not to stay in Hat Yai but make our way directly to the coast. We found a great place for lunch while we waited for our minibus to Krabi. It is really hard to explaine in words the experience of sitting in a very vinyl van, as the driver speeds around traffic on blind corners, while 'Achy Breaky Heart' and 'Rindstone Cowboy' play in the back ground. It was four hours that we will not soon forget :D

From Krabi we decided to keep moving and came to Ao Nang. We found a cheap place to stay last night and having been exploring the town today. We have filled up our next two days and will be spending them Kayaking and Snorkelling. After that we are probably going to head to Phi-Phi island for a night or two then move on to Phuket.

Can't wait to hear all about the sea kayaking and snorkeling! Make sure you go for foot massages while you are in Thailand, well worth the money. SMS Essie once in awhile, he is wondering how you are doing. He said he won't SMS you first because he doesn't want to be accused of being as annoying as me! hhmm

This entry really brings back the few vague memories I have of the train ride and the bangkok, I remember liking it but who really knows?

I know exactly what you mean about the mini-bus drivers.. crazy folk... small hands.. smell like cabbage.

Make a banana pancake, make a banana milkshake, make a banana muffin, make a banana somethin'...

That is all.
